SAIN and its partners have been developing several projects and applications to demonstrate the usefulness and support for the use of information technologies and science for decision-making. Some of these projects are still under development others are already functional and available online. Our applications include:

  • Internet Map Viewers that allow the user to present biological information in its geospatial dimension at different levels of complexity from simple static maps to generated on the fly maps (from the SAIN oracle database)
  • Virtual Wilderness Immersion Projects, including the "Virtual Appalachian Ecosystem" Immersive Virtual Environment
  • Visualization tools such as 3D models and corridor detection models.
